AW18 Arrives at Reiss Brighton
Take a first look at Reiss’ new seasonal collections
For AW18, the Reiss woman is encouraged, above all, to embrace elements of the unexpected. Referencing classic features from the past to produce a contemporary vision for now, vintage prints and sumptuous fabrics are blended to translate a distinctly elevated, glamorous aesthetic. Taking both design and styling cues from the elegance of eternal icons like Jane Birkin, the collection is spun through a youthful lens with inspiration from modern muse Jeanne Damas. Adding depth and dimension to wardrobe staples as well as signature pieces, the undercurrent of creative flair throughout leaves plenty of room for individuality and interpretation: a notion that is actively encouraged for the season ahead…
The AW18 menswear collection draws inspiration from the transformative period of late-Eighties and early-Nineties New York, as well as the exhilarating and definitive art of Jean-Michel Basquiat, the collection marries the attitude and aesthetic of a bygone era with a fashion-forward, contemporary vision, captures the very essence of a modern life of style. The symbolic and now-signature style of Richard Gere’s Julian Kaye character in the 1980 cult classic “American Gigolo” has steered the sartorial ambitions of tailoring this season, which is less about power dressing and more about a relaxed yet refined wear.
Naturally, the photography of Aldo Fallai has also played a part in portraying the mood and feeling of the season, capturing the styling directive of layering luxe sportswear silhouettes with structured pieces, to create a sleek and sophisticated look.
Dynamic and discerning of the man of today, the foundation of the new season emboldens the styles Reiss is renowned for – from outerwear to eveningwear – and infuses them with a fresh update that’s equal parts contemporary and timeless.
